Plan your gatheringHMK Living hosts private gatherings rather than large functions: a dinner in the penthouse, a small celebration, a working session for a team staying here. There is no banqueting hall, and for anything above about twenty people the resorts nearby are the right answer.
The honest line first. HMK Living has no conference hall, no ballroom and no banqueting kitchen. A wedding of three hundred, a conference of fifty, a product launch with a stage — the large resorts along this stretch of the lake are built for those and we are not.
What works here is the small end: a private dinner cooked in the apartment by the in-apartment chef, a family celebration taking the 3BHK Penthouse for a few nights, a team of four to six using the penthouse as a base for a working week.
The difference is that these happen in an apartment rather than a function room, which is what makes them feel like an evening at home rather than an event with a schedule.
From 180 m² with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full kitchen and a living and dining space built to hold a group rather than merely seat one, the penthouse is where almost every gathering here happens. It is $300 a night for the whole apartment, breakfast included for everyone staying in it.
The in-apartment chef comes with it by default rather than as an upgrade, and a dedicated chauffeur is included for the duration of the stay. Between them, the evening — the cooking, the arrivals, the going home — is arranged rather than organised.
For a group staying over, three bedrooms with their own bathrooms means nobody is negotiating a bathroom schedule the morning after.
Through the concierge, with four things: the date, the number of people, whether anyone is staying the night, and any dietary requirements. Halal, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free are all prepared on request.
The chef takes a brief rather than a fixed menu, so say what the occasion is and what people like. Wine and spirits can be arranged, or you can bring your own.
Give a week's notice where you can. A dinner for four can often be arranged the same day; anything larger, or anything with a particular menu, wants more time.
If what you are planning genuinely needs a hall, the lakeside strip has them. The resorts in Munyonyo and on Kigo Road run convention halls, outdoor venues and the room inventory to put a whole delegation under one roof, and they do it well.
What we can do in that case is house the part of the party that wants an apartment rather than a hotel room — a principal and their staff, a family attached to a wedding, a team in for a conference who would rather have a kitchen. Those two arrangements work together more often than people assume.
