In Detail

The answers, in full.

Arrival and departure times, late landings, children and visitors, smoking and quiet hours, keys and damage, and exactly how payment and cancellation work — each with the hour, the number or the person to ask attached.

What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Come to the ground floor, show a valid photo ID, settle the stay, and you are taken up to the apartment.

Send your arrival time to the concierge on WhatsApp at +256 748 390 401 beforehand — the earlier the better. It is what lets the team have the apartment finished, the air conditioning already running and, if you asked for it, groceries in the fridge and a car waiting at Entebbe. Arrivals are handled at any hour of the day or night, so an unusual time is a detail rather than a problem.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 11:00 AM, from every apartment. Drop the key card at the ground floor on your way out.

If you have a late flight, the concierge will keep your luggage after you check out so you can use the day rather than sit with your bags — leave it at the desk and collect it when the car comes. Breakfast is served before check-out on your final morning, and if you are leaving before the kitchen opens the restaurant will put something out for you to take.

Can I check in early or check out late?

Both are possible on request and depend on whether the apartment is free either side of your stay. Ask the concierge the day before rather than on the morning, and you will get a straight yes or no.

Early arrivals are easiest when the apartment was empty the night before, and late check-outs when nobody is arriving that afternoon. Where it cannot be given, the practical answer is usually enough: arrive early, leave your bags with the concierge, have breakfast or coffee downstairs and go up when the apartment is ready. An extended late check-out that runs into the evening is treated as an extra night, and the team will say so plainly before you commit to it.

What happens if I arrive very late at night?

Someone is always there. The guest concierge is staffed 24 hours a day and there is armed security on site around the clock, so a 02:00 arrival is met in the same way as a 15:00 one.

Send your flight number to the concierge and the team will track the landing rather than rely on your scheduled time, which matters when a flight is delayed. Entebbe International is about 20 km away along the Entebbe Express Highway, so even a very late landing is a short run. Tell the concierge whether you want anything waiting — the kitchen can leave a cold plate out, and water, tea and coffee are already in the apartment.

Are children welcome?

Children of all ages are welcome. Cots are available on request, and extra beds can be added subject to availability.

Include the ages of any children in your enquiry: it is what lets reservations price the stay correctly and put the right beds in the right rooms. For a family, the apartment matters more than the extras — the 2BHK Suite from 88 m² and the 3BHK Penthouse from 180 m² have full kitchens and separate bedrooms, while the Studio Deluxe from 32 m² and the 1BHK Suite from 52 m² have a kitchenette suited to breakfasts and simple meals. There is no swimming pool on site, which is worth knowing before you arrive with children expecting one.

Can I have visitors?

Yes, daytime visitors are welcome. They sign in with security at the gate and you meet them downstairs, which keeps the building private for everyone staying in it.

Anyone staying the night is a different matter and has to be on the booking. Message the concierge before they arrive so the apartment is registered for the right number of guests, the right linen goes up and, where the rate changes, you are told the difference in advance rather than at check-out. The apartments are let to the guests named on the booking, so parties and gatherings of people who are not staying are not permitted — if you want to host, the concierge will arrange a table in the restaurant downstairs instead.

Is smoking allowed?

No. HMK Living is non-smoking throughout — apartments, corridors, balconies and all indoor areas — and vaping is treated the same way.

A designated outdoor spot can be arranged on request, so ask the concierge where to go rather than opening a window. Smoking inside leaves a smell that outlasts the stay and takes an apartment out of service to put right, so a cleaning charge may be applied after departure. Candles and incense are discouraged for the same practical reason, and every apartment has a smoke alarm that will not distinguish between the two.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not permitted anywhere on the property. It is what keeps every apartment fresh and allergen-free for the guest arriving after you.

Assistance animals are considered separately and case by case — write to reservation@hmklivingapartments.com before you book rather than arriving and hoping, so the team can confirm in writing. If you are travelling with an animal and staying a while, the concierge can suggest boarding options near Kigo and arrange the car to get there.

What are the quiet hours?

Quiet hours run from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Keep music, television and conversation at a level that stays inside your own apartment during those hours.

It is the one rule guests here care most about, because a large share of them are working: calls at seven in the morning, flights at five, and a day in Kampala to get through. Security may knock and ask for the volume to come down, and will do it quietly. If noise is reaching you from elsewhere in the building, message the concierge on +256 748 390 401 instead of waiting it out — the night shift will deal with it there and then.

What happens if something is damaged, or I lose a key card?

Tell the concierge as soon as it happens. Ordinary accidents are part of hospitality and are not charged for; damage beyond that, or items missing after departure, may be charged once the apartment has been checked.

A lost key card should be reported immediately so it can be deactivated and a replacement issued at the ground floor, which takes a few minutes. Apartments are checked after every departure, discreetly, and anything found is raised with you directly and with an explanation rather than appearing as a line on a statement. If you notice something already broken when you arrive, say so on the first day — it saves any question later about when it happened.

How and when do I pay?

Payment is settled on arrival, at check-in. Cards and mobile money are both accepted on site, and nothing is taken from you before you get here.

Services added during the stay — room service, laundry, a transfer, a spa booking made through the concierge — join the same bill rather than needing separate payments, and you can ask for the running total at any point. If your employer is paying, say so when you book: the office line on +256 393 101 080 handles invoices, corporate rates and anything a finance department needs in writing. For a stay of seven nights or more, the discounted rate of 10 to 20% is applied to the quote before you arrive, not claimed back afterwards.

What is the cancellation policy?

Bookings made on this website can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before check-in. Because nothing is charged in advance, cancelling inside that window costs you nothing to undo.

Cancel or change dates by messaging the concierge on WhatsApp at +256 748 390 401 or by writing to reservation@hmklivingapartments.com with your booking reference — either is enough, and you will get a written confirmation. Inside 48 hours, or if your flight collapses on the day, message the team anyway: they will tell you what applies to your rate and, where the apartment can be moved rather than lost, will usually move it. Bookings made through a travel agent or a third-party site follow that provider's terms instead of these.

What do I need to bring to check-in?

A valid photo ID for every adult in the party, your booking reference, and a way to pay. A passport or a national ID card both work, and local law requires guests to be registered.

Nothing else is needed. Towels, linen, toiletries, a hairdryer, tea and coffee and bottled water are already in the apartment, and there is a work desk and fibre-optic Wi-Fi in each one, so a laptop and a charger are all a working trip requires. If you are missing something on arrival — an adaptor, a phone charger, a shirt that needs pressing before a morning meeting — the concierge is the first place to ask.

The Fine Print

Good to know before you arrive.

Your stay is settled on arrival, so no card is charged when you book. Website bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before check-in; special requests are subject to availability and some carry an additional charge, which the team will quote before anything is arranged.

Please share your expected arrival time in advance. The fastest way to reach us — before, during, or after your stay — is the WhatsApp concierge on +256 (0) 748 390 401, the office line on +256 (0) 393 101 080, or email reservation@hmklivingapartments.com.

Stays of seven nights or more carry a discount of 10 to 20%, applied to your quote before arrival. Bookings made through a travel agent or a third-party site follow that provider's cancellation terms rather than ours.
