The 2BHK Suite, in full

The 2BHK Suite is the family and small-delegation apartment: two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a full kitchen and a shared living area, from $200 a night for the whole thing rather than per person.

Who the 2BHK Suite is for

Families, colleagues travelling together, and anyone whose stay runs long enough that cooking properly stops being optional. From 88 m² with two king bedrooms and two bathrooms, it is the first apartment here where more than two people can live comfortably rather than tolerate each other.

Two colleagues in one 2BHK Suite costs less than two separate rooms almost everywhere in Kampala, and gives you a shared living area to work in rather than a hotel lobby. For a family, the second bathroom is usually the detail that decides it.

If you need a third bedroom, or you are hosting, the 3BHK Penthouse is the one.

What is actually in the suite

Two bedrooms, each with a king bed and its own bathroom. A full kitchen — a cooker, not just a microwave — with a refrigerator and everything needed to cook properly for four. A living area with seating and a dining table that four people can actually eat at.

Fibre-optic mesh Wi-Fi throughout. Daily housekeeping. Laundry and ironing handled as a service, which with a family is the difference between a holiday and a chore. A balcony.

What a week actually costs

At $200 a night for the apartment — not per person — with 10 to 20 per cent off from seven nights, and breakfast included for everyone staying in it.

The arithmetic that matters: four people in two hotel rooms on this road, at mid-200s a room, is over USD 500 a night before anyone eats. The same four in a 2BHK Suite is $200, with a kitchen that turns several dinners into a supermarket shop. Over a week the difference runs into four figures.

A supermarket shop for four for a week comes to roughly 400,000 to 600,000 shillings. Seven dinners out for four, at Kampala restaurant prices, comfortably exceeds that.

Living in it

Families settle into a pattern quickly: breakfast downstairs, the day out — the lake, the city, the golf course — and dinner cooked at the apartment rather than negotiated in a restaurant with tired children.

Kigo is residential and quiet, with a gated entrance, controlled vehicle access and 24/7 security on site. There is no swimming pool here, which parents of small children sometimes count as an advantage rather than a loss.

For colleagues, the shared living area does the work a hotel lobby does badly: somewhere to spread papers out, take a call, and eat without booking a table.

Weighing it against the others?

Each apartment page carries the same breakdown — who it suits, what is in it, and what a week comes to.

2BHK Suite — questions

How many people does the 2BHK Suite sleep?
Four comfortably, in two bedrooms with a king bed each and a bathroom each. From 88 m², with a full kitchen and a living area with a dining table for four.
Does the 2BHK Suite have a full kitchen?
Yes — a cooker, refrigerator and the equipment to cook properly for four, rather than the kitchenette found in the Studio Deluxe and 1BHK Suite. There is no washing machine; laundry and ironing are handled as a service instead.
How much is the 2BHK Suite per night?
From $200 a night for the whole apartment, not per person, bed and breakfast for everyone staying in it. Seven nights or more carries a 10 to 20 per cent discount.
Is the 2BHK Suite cheaper than two hotel rooms?
Usually by a wide margin. Two rooms on this road at typical rates exceed USD 500 a night between them; the 2BHK Suite is $200 for the apartment, with breakfast included for four and a kitchen that takes several dinners out of the budget.
Is the 2BHK Suite good for families with children?
It is the apartment most families take. Separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen for the meals children will not eat in a restaurant, and a quiet residential setting behind a gate with 24/7 security. Note there is no swimming pool on the property.
